CTX gave me $361 in clad this year......

..so I went to the junk store today and bought these. I had $9 left over, so I bought myself a nice oriental chicken salad at Applebee's (had to throw in a few bucks from my pocket). The two Morgans are both 1921s, but man they are in great shape. I hope I'll get enough clad next year to do about the same. More would be even better. It's definitely nice to DIG silver, but modern coins can be put to good use, also. And there's a lot more of them than the old stuff.

Impressive pic. I opened a separate saving account just for my clad. Your pile will certainly appreciate at a much higher rate.

That is clad put to good use :clapping: a pretty gold coin takes up less space.......

I used to do that all the time (buy silver with the clad we found).----Pretty slick deal doing that I think---and you got something to show (long term) for that clad.----We stopped doing it when silver "spiked" but it's STILL worth doing.

Yes. I kick myself for not loading up on silver when it was $7/ounce. It has dropped recently though and I was able to get this lot (except for the Morgans) at 16.5X face value. Some experts predict it'll see prices over $100/ounce one of these days. I hope so.

You did good MJ. Rotating some of that clad into silver n gold is a smart move. I do it all the time.

Gold is predicted to go into many thousands of $ per oz, and silver into the few $100's per oz.
That will happen when the dollar melts down, due to all the printing.
Keep stacking while you can afford it!

Where is a good place to buy silver coins? Cost wise.

I'm constantly shopping around for a "good deal". If you have some coin dealers in your local area, they usually have junk silver that they'll sell for X amount times face value. Reasonable rates in my area, right now, are around 15.5 to 16.2X face. It was as high as 20X face earlier this year. You can also check with people who run precious metal stores....like buying and selling bullion. They usually have some junk silver coins in addition to the bullion coins they sell. I've found that they tend to run a little higher than the coin dealers though. I've recently been running an ad on Craigslist offering to buy it for 15X face. Most coin dealers will buy people's silver at about 12X face and then turn around and sell it for 15.5X or higher. At 15X face, I can pay the individuals more than they'll get selling it to a coin dealer and I also am able to get it for a little less than I'd have to pay the same coin dealer. I've had a few deals that way recently, but you have to consider the unknown factor on Craigslist. I always meet in a public place and I conceal carry (and let them know that up front).

Good to see others on this forum who know the value of silver and why it's smart to hold some.

A good rule of measure is that a silver dime is worth a loaf of bread and a quarter worth a gallon of gas. When I was a kid you could by a loaf of bread for a clad or silver dime and a gallon of gas for a quarter silver or clad, Now it takes about 15 clad dimes or still just one silver dime to by that loaf of bread. Same goes for the gas.

I gring when I hear about people selling there real money (gold and silver) for the fake fiat currency. But I don't think most people understand how bad things can get with any currency especially with the U.S dollar. So hold on to all those good finds guys and gals they may save your butt someday sooner than we hope.

A good place for bulk junk silver is Providential metals out of Texas. You can buy fairly small quantities or very large for better prices than most coin shops. You go on their site, find what you like then call and order it. They lock in the price for you giving you time to mail a check. When they clear the Check they mail you the coins. I might add I have gotten some Liberty dimes in brilliant uncirculated condition. Always friendly folks to deal with too.

Keep Stackin that silver!!!:surrender:
