CTX Finds Silver First Time Out

The Wooz

New member
Finally got time to take out the new CTX and went to a favorite spot that was hunted to death but I found these two barber dimes, one is a 1901-O that is real worn and the other is a nice 1914-S. The other thing is some kind of a 1-1/2 cent tax token but it needs a good cleaning up and the 5-pennies are lincoln and hard to read but I will also try and clean them up. The barbers were down about 6-7" inches and the lincoln cents about 5-7" but the tax token was about 8". I can tell you that they were all good sounding targets and the tax token had a nail about 2" above it so it was not a bad first time out and I can't wait to see what I find when I learn how to really work this machine.[attachment 250768 NewImage2.JPG] [attachment 250769 FirstFindswithCTX3030120212004.jpg]

Sweet!

Way to score big on the first outing!!

For a first time out, you did great, congratulations. The Illinois tax token is for 1 1/2 mils, not cents. (one mill is 1/10 of a cent) That is the tax on a 5 cent purchase in the 1930's. Here is the scoop on the tokens if you are interested. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?78,1818753

Thanks for the info on the tax token Larry. I live by Chicago so is any one out there or groups that would like a hunting partner, just curious.

Super first outing with the CTX - finding Barbers anytime is great - first time out with the CTX should confirm that you made the right choice:thumbup:

That is not a bad hunt no matter how long you have been hunting. Welcome to our world. Happy hunting.
