CTX finally finds her first honey

Decided to hit an old church playground where I found my first couple 1800's with my MTX. After pounding endless clad for the first couple hours I got a solid 12-36 @ 5 inches. Found it strange that a ZLincoln would be that deep so expected a bottle cap. Out pops this baby. Sure brightened up my clad filled day.

I would have figured that for an Indian?

Haven't found in an indian yet with the CTX so the thought hadn't crossed my mind. Heading back there tuesday after my 6 inch coil comes in from Bart. There's spots that you hear nothing but dead silence with a few beeps here and there when running disc. Running open causes my head to explode at this site.

Great find and I hope there's more to come. Nothing better to see than a piece of gold. I'd like to see a three sided plug though. Too many times I see these 4in holes of dead grass and know it was from a detectorist. If you leave the grass connected it stand a better chance of surviving till then next rain.
IMHO BCNJ

Wow I couldn't tell you how many of those numbers I don't dig at 4" not anymore congrats on the yellow stuff, and about the 3 sided hole I don't necessarily find that to be true in my opinion I find that the deeper plug you dig the better chance for survival I used to dig 3 sided and switched to round plug but large and deep and seems to work but I am not a grass enthusiasts by any means any one else have opinions?Let us know how that 6" coil works and if it is worthe the price tag to you in your opinion.Dr tones gave a good opinion on the 6" and I feel same way.HH Charlie

That is a very nice looking ring, congratulations. It looks gold but the 12-36 says maybe gold plated silver, any markings inside?

I normally try and leave about 2+ inches of my plugs connected but in this particular area the ground literally falls apart due to it being filled. Tons of pebbles. Most of the finds are thorugh the fill and on top of the original ground. As for the ring, I can barely see the legs of what was the K. It looks to not be the original size either. You can easily see the band was re-sized to fit a childs fingers. I'm going to take it to a jeweler to get it verified today or tomorrow before work.

Nice grab

Congrats WTG

Just groovy is all I can say. My better half just called and said the jewelry store told her it's either 20 or 22k gold.

Truth be told, i've been getting a little down of late. So much hunting with $25.00 of clad found, 31 wheats and all of a 49 rosie and a 45 war nickle in the way of silver. Sunday I took the CTX out to a house that was built in 1889. I thought for sure I would at the least walk away from there with something. Nope, nadda. All I found was 2 wheats and 2.50 in clad. The ground was filled in, I would guess around the late 60's. I left disappointed. On the way home there is a small swim area thats off the main beach of Clark dam. It can't be more then 20 yards long. A 12-46 tone later gives me a "sister forever" sterling surprise. 2 rings connected together with .925 LA on each (Guess LA stands for L.A. Gem and jewelry design).

In 2 years I find 1 piece of jewelry with my MTX but plenty of silver. In 1 weekend I find 2 pieces of jewelry with the CTX but not much in the way of coinage.

This is a funny hobby.

Gorgeous ring and the high purity must account for the higher than expected ID. Here is to digging Zinc penny signals. :beers:
