CTX Control Box Issue

Howdy folks, long time no post.

My CTX went on the fritz a little over a month ago. I would press the power button and it would beep and go to the Minelab screen, then die. After several tries, I would be able to get it to power up. A few days later, it would not power up. I bit the bullet and, despite the awesome weather, sent it in for warranty work (bought May 2012). Minelab Customer Service was amazing. A real technitian answered after 3 rings, and had emailed me my RMA number within 4 minutes. I shipped it, and it was returned within 10 business days. They said they re-seated the keypad and that it powered up with no issue. I got one hunt in with it, and then went to turn it on to download data to XChange2, and the power issue happened again.

I was a little miffed, called Customer Care again (2 rings, real person answered) and got a new RMA. This time they put a priority repair order on it. I shipped next day on a Thursday and got it back next Friday. This time, they said they were able to replicate the power problem and traced it to the control box. They replaced the control box, and it now works like a champ. I went huntin' the next day, and got to meet Ray-MO and DrBob from the forums. They came up to visit and hunt a Civil War camp site. I did pretty fair (Enfield drop, few bullets, a bunch of buck balls, and a worn 1841 half dime), and have no doubt that the CTX is now back to full health.

Kudos to Minelab Customer Care.

Glad you're back in business and making nice finds again! Also nice to know Mine lab took such good care of you, too bad you had to ship it twice!
