I currently use a pair of SunRay Pro Gold headphones with my Etrac and I absolutely love them. What do you recommend for the CTX. I'm getting ready to make the switch.

sunray pro golds work just fine for me if you like them stick with them

SunRay has new version of headphones that are CTX compatible. (meaning that they will work fine attached to the CTX itself or the WM10 wireless module). However, if you just use the WM10 wireless module with the headphones attached to it, the older version of the SunRay headphones work fine. There are probably some other brands that are CTX compatible, but I use the SunRays with mine........HH

Thanks! So the regular SunRay ProGold do work with the wireless module?

yes thay work just fine with the wireless module that is what I use and love them

I have also used GG and Killer B's and they work great as well. My underwater headphones are Grey Ghost also. You will like the WM 10. HH :minelab:

I'm using Black Widows and wouldn't trade them for anything...
They also block out more outside noise than any others I have tried, also fit very snuggly..
I'm 100% satisfied with mine..
Got them from Andrew at NED...

I use Beats, very comfortable. When I can sneak them out, I grab my wife's Bose QC15 noise cancelling headphones, they are great, all you hear is the tones.

But not all will work switching between the wireless and direct to the detector correct?

either connected to the wireless or to the detector you need the adapter unless you make yourself a cord that is compatible. The adapter has been a non issue for me

Connected to the wireless, you do not need the adaptor cord...anyway with the pre-CTX SunRays and Gray Ghosts you don't.

Its an adapter plug that most people went out and bought after we realized alot of headphones wouldn't work properly without it. If I recall it did not matter if you were connect to the wireless module or directly to the detector. The problem was that the audio would still emit from the detector or the module after the headphones were plugged.I could have sworn that the older gray ghosts were affected by this

Got the SunRay CTX Compatable. Thank All!!

Duke..you should like those SunRay headphones............Godd Luck and HH

I use my old SunRay ProGolds & Gray Ghost NDT with the wireless module, things work just fine. When the wireless module is switched on the speaker shuts off on the CTX. If there are no headphones attached to the module when it is switched on, the sound emits from the module speaker. If you plug a set of headphones directly into the wireless module, the speaker in the module shuts off and the sound is then emitted from the headphones. There is no problem when headphones are plugged into the wireless module, the problem only occurrs when not using the wireless module and the headphones were plugged directly into the CTX. The patch cord or adapter is only needed for hooking the headphones to the CTX itself.

I am a new CTX user and like that I can plug my DJ headphones into the wireless setup. I use SONY MDR-7506 professional headphones which are used by a lot of DJs, and video sound guys who do remotes in war zones. I find the Koss phones overly large. These are smaller but still cover the ear. They are strong, clean, loud, and you can wear them for hours without really noticing that you have them on.. I think I may buy another set and put a waterproof jack on the end so I can use them when wading.
