CTX arm cup

Fire Fighter 43

For all the CTX owners. What do you think of the arm cup and the way it is secured in place. I found that mine is not that tight and seems to move forward after putting my arm in several times.

Had the same problem.. I found a spot that fit me perfect.. Took a pair of wide nose pliers and gently turned it.. Took a little bit of muscle but it will definitely turn. Its locked in place now and wont budge!

yes mine moves around cant seem to lock it in place with the turn knob, how to you feel about being strapped to the machine does it make life harder when getting down and up to recover a target?

Same here can't get it to turn more the 1/8 as far as yours did. It losses up every few minutes!

give it some time some one will come up with a metal arm cuff as for using wide nose pliers that will work but only use wide as needle will take a bite out of the plastic good luck with the new machines Pat

Not really, if you adjust the velcro strap just right you can slip your arm out of it as you set it down. It is the same way I did it with my Etrac :)

Mine also was stubborn at getting locked into place. Once I got it turned, I don't think it will go anyplace. As for being strapped to the machine. I do the same with this machine as I did with my XSs and E-Trac: I loosen the strap in the arm cuff, until it will go down fairly close to the bottom of the cuff, then refasten the Velcro. That makes the strap kind of a "cushion" instead of "strapping you in". Then just grab the handle and the strap in the machine will come up against my arm, and I'm off. Just set the machine down to do any recovery, no need to unstrap yourself or take your arm out thru the cuff/strap opening. The XS and E-Trac being more coil heavy, allowed the strap to rest against your arm in a more firm manner than the CTX, but I don't want to deal with being attached to my machine every time I need to recover something. But, however one decides to use the arm strap, it's all about what works the best for them........Good Luck to all with the new machine.

so if i understand you correctly you do use the arm strap when swinging the CTX ? its just inside the arm cuff ?

thanks.

Yes, the strap is kind of like a cushion against the underneath side of my forearm, not over the top of my forearm. I adjust the strap in length, for the best feel of the machine balance for me. With the strap still attached to the machine and in the cuff, if for some reason, you're out detecting and want to put the strap over the top of your arm, it is there for your use.

thanks for the pic C&RHunter that's what i thought you meant but just had to clarify, that's how i use the etrac , how do you find using the CTX like that doesn't want to throw the coil in the air? will give it a try latter.

To use the strap this way the coil is a touch light and wants to raise. The way I hold the 3030 helps with that. I don't "grip" the handle like shaking hands. My index finger, middle finger, and thumb, more or less lightly grip the handle just to stabilize the machine. My machine is basically held by the lower two fingers and mostly my little finger. Holding it this way the pivot point of the machine is down as near the main shaft as possible. That helps reduce the coil wanting to lift. I may also have the coil extended more than some, and that would make a bit of difference as well. That may be "clear as mud" to you, but if you try it you can see what I mean. It works for me, but may not for others...

will give it a go for sure ! wearing the strap is very annoying to me (getting in and out of it when retrieving a target) so what you said makes sense and thank for explaining it so well very much appreciated !! will let you know how i get on.
