Handy, but you have to keep the machine on, have your laptop in the car, power it up, hook up the MD, and then transfer the pics to the laptop before turning off the MD. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't take my laptop to the field, and where I hunt I definitely wont leave it in the car. They need to update the FW so we can save the pics and delete them later.

Agreed Ronfin and thanks for the LOL there. I think Minelab's intentions were good but clearly this feature was not designed to it's fullest and I wonder if it was just a testers feature initially being that the unit must be kept on. Clearly, there is no memory on board for this feature. Wonder if they could write an update to add transfer functionality to a USB stick in the field, that would be reasonable to me. Here is what I wrote on another forum regarding this:

If you want to show screenshots of your disc patterns and such, really the best and most helpful thing you can do would be to take screenshots in exchange II. Because there you can see your disc pattern breakdown due to the visibility of the VID lines and boxes.

If I wanted to take screenshots of splatter patterns from target trace or anything like that, I would film the targets and then cut it from the film later but I have a nice mount and camera.

Yes, it would have been nice if Minelab kept the pics when you turned it off, but I suspect there is no memory internal to the machine. Perhaps the screenshot feature was created for testers initially?

I'm too busy detectn' to hook anything, let alone the ctx to a computer.
I never took the time to learn how to do it with the etrac, and as long as I'm findin' stuff- I will play with that later.

I ain't against technology. I'm just havin' too much fun to worry about anything that cuts into my detecting time. Can't find those walking liberty halves sitting behind my desk!

I find it all interesting. Once the ground freezes maybe...
