CTX 3030 Shaft Length & Display Washout

I have been doing as much reading as possible regarding the CTX3030.

I am 6'1 and was wondering if I should be concerned about the shaft length. From what I have tread there were a few complaints about length.

Also some noted issues with screen washout in sunlight. Is it tolerable or will it drive me nuts on the beach:)

Thanks for the help. It is a sizable investment and I want to make the right decision. I do not have anyone local to demo unfortunately................

I love my ctx would never sale it , but the display is bad nothing i have tryed helps very much, i just do not understand i have detectors that cost 1/3 as much with good bright screens

I'm 6'1" also and don't have a problem with the shaft length but I do have it all the way to the end with the 17" coil on it, I shorten it up just a bit. The screen is tolerable, could be brighter, has problems with polarized sunglasses but I can work around it. I agree, there are brighter screens on detectors at 1/3 the price.

You get used to the screen after awhile but yes it is pretty bad for a high end machine... Hopefully we will get a update with some better color and contrast combinations.. wildhere

+1 on everything said already. The screen could use a lot more definition in bright light. I'm 6' 2" and have the shaft fully extended and the forearm cup as far back as it will go. Although heavier, the CTX balances out better than my F75 and is easier and less tiring to swing for longer periods. I took my F75 out for a little while about a month ago.........it just made me realize how much I love the CTX!!

I agree it could be a little better on length. As for the display don't pay much attention to it. I hunt but the tones.

As do I, for the most part. However, I do like to refer to the display when I hit a very weak or strong signal and again if I get a break in the threshold tone. This has led me to find nice items below junk or multiple targets. Found a really nice Barber quarter (1897 O) under an "X" shaped fan that may have come from a model A car/truck or similar. Bottom line, I like using the display and tones, but, that's just me.

Had mine out today for the very first trip into the water, 6 inch coil, The screen was not bad I felt, only time I could not see it was when the sun was reflecting. It's a totally different type of hunting compared to the Excalibur. Much like a throw back to when I land hunted with the SE..

I'm 6'0 and the shaft length is alright. The display isn't great, my V3i's display is much better.
The display could be much brighter certainly!
The VDI scale is totally different from what I'm familiar with and has been my biggest issue, though I'm slowly learning how to interpret this machine.
I actually really like the GPS and use it to show me what area's I've covered/missed.
