CTX 3030 on the beach: Lessons Learned

Again, these things are "pre-warned" but I seem to learn the hard way.

This week I tried shallow water hunting vs wet sand and dry sand. I thought I'd start the hunt using the remote and non-waterproof headphones, since I wouldn't be in the water until later. Well I haphazardly started into the water without changing over to the waterproof set. I realized this in time before I was hit by waves so changed out without getting the equipment wet.

Second lesson (got lucky here as well): get the CTX out of the way of the scoop!

Third lesson: I got one of those T-Rex scoops (after drilling holes in a Walmart shovel...works ok for dry sand but not shallow water). I installed what I thought looked like a pretty stout aluminum handle. Well it broke. So I now have a steel reinforced wooden handle.

PS. In the water, CTX was crisp and clear! Didn't find anything except for an encrusted 3" disc of some sort of metal, cell phone and change.
