CTX 3030 in the park on a 11" silver dime

Was doing a shhot-out with the CTX 3030, XP Deus and the E-Trac. Found a 11" dime and tested all 3 before recovery. If you look close you'll see the E-Trac showing it as an 11" target as does the CTX.

I see you used the 17" coil on the CTX in the video. Did you try it with the 11" as well? I'm guessing it would have hit it as well.

Yes I believe the 11" would have no doubt hit it also. Now, would it have hit as clean? I'm not sure.

I do want to add the XP Deus stuck right with both the E-Trac and the CTX until this target. I was very impressed with how well it hit on a couple of 9" coins. The big difference is the Dues will hit hard on every piece of gold I have even the smallest. Stuff the E-Trac or CTX doesn't even see.

Im glad you posted this for comparison to other detectors - were you running the 11" coil with the XP Deus? Looks that way from the pic...

That 17" coil on the CTX looks like half a football field LOL!

Nice comparison video

3030 with 17 inch coil vs E-Trac with 11 inch coil is not make sense!

I know I know, the test was not equal between the E-Trac and CTX. The purpose of this video was to show the difference between the 17" and the stock 11". I know a lot of people, like myself, have wanted to know if the 17" was worth the expense. This video might help them decide. Rather than switching the coils on the CTX we just used a E-Trac. I also will note that the Dues had just come from hunting tot lots and the frequency was still at 17 KHZ. Not the best for deep silver. Had it been on 4 KHZ I'm sure the signal would have been stronger. As I said, this test was for myself to see if I could hear and see a difference between the 11" & 17". I find watching your own videos often you'll see/hear things you didn't notice at the time you were hunting. I will have many more shoot-outs coming up hopefully a little more aimed toward what people might want to see.

Personally, I didn't watch it for a comparison of coils or detectors. As you stated in the title, it is about the CTX3030 in the park on a 11" silver dime. With that said, I think the best thing you demonstrated in this video is that the 17" coil will hit a dime that deep. There have been those who questioned if the large coil can hit a small target, that deep. Thanks for showing that it can. HH Randy

Southwind showing how the big CTX coil can hit a dime ( small target), is good to know.

I can't lug that big coil around though....wish I could !

The Deus was peeping on it which was interesting. Would have been nice, as SW stated, if he switched to 4kHz to see what may have transpired and if the signal would have been a bit sharper.

Looked like the signal was significantly clearer with the 17" on the ctx the first few passes then not so clear on the final few passes as happens sometimes, but I'm interested in getting the 17" coil, would you say it clearly made a significant difference in signal clarity using the larger coil? A difference that could decide to dig or not?

Thanks for posting the comparison video.

Yes I thought so. What I was really surprised was how well it separates and even being so big still sensitive to small coins. I was worried about dime sized coins but it picks coins up just fine. I have been able to go back to places my E-Trac and 11" coil quit producing and pull keeper after keeper from the place. I pulled 5 keepers(wheat & silver coins) out of an area we had hit very hard with E-Tracs and when I looked around all the coins were in an area no bigger than 20' by 20. I was thinking holy crap if I can do this everywhere I'm in heaven again.

Thanks for the great info Southwind! Looks like you were hunting the average park with its average junk and the fact that it seperates so well on small coins is great! I know I'm going to get one, even if I have to buy the proswing to go with it to make it easier on me to swing for long hunts, I usually hunt 2-4 hours sometimes as much as & so far. Thanks again for your fast response!
