CTX 3030 finds weird item.

interesting, is the larger end folded over?

I have posted these 2 additional pictures to give a clearer idea of what the item looks like , as can be seen the larger end is wedge shaped , looks like a miniature spade almost.

I see it and I want it ! I'll give $1,759,872.00 in zinconels for it but only if you pay for shipping !!!!!!

It was used to hang your jacket on just inside the door.

Ok i guess my new found "treasure" is a worthless piece of junk!

Not to worry the treasure is waiting on the next hunt.

It looks to me like a brass door stop. The type you would see on the bottom of the door. It would flip up in open position and push it down with your foot to keep the door open.

I think it is a shovel off an old toy truck, like a front end shovel. Or a 'vintage' nose picker.

Put it on what-zit forum. Try to identify before you toss it in the scrap pile. Example: Confederates hand made a lot of their stuff. My son found a hand made sword hanger and has been offered a bunch of $$$$$ for it. I got it out of his scrap bucket. Good luck! HH :minelab:

The indentation at the small end, is that just a plugged up hole (going all the way through) or just a recessed spot?

Any new pics, now that it has been cleaned? Did you find any markings?

Looks like part of an old box lock used on old doors up to the 1940s era. This part extended thru the box lock on the door into the door keeper on the door jam. When the door handle was turned this part was extracted from keeper on door jam. These parts are usually iron or brass.

I agree with Historical Prospector, looks like a door stop.
