CTX 3030 confusion... HELP

Kyseeker

Member
Just received my new CTX 3030. VERY EXCITED. However, being a little geekish, I want to be a student of the functions and use of my new machine (I spend as much time researching my equipment as I do metal detecting - ha). Anyway, I am a little confused as to the purpose and use of the "Ferrous Coin and Ground Coin" settngs. What exactly/when exactly would you use one or the other? What are their benefits. The amazing thing is that I called Minelab customer service and spoke with one of the techs. HE WAS UNSURE ALSO!!!

Look forward to response (and knowledge)

Your bad Jason...

Nonetheless, the answer to your question can be found at that link. A couple hits down it will link you back to discussions on this forum regarding the subject.

Also if you have not done so go the Minelab website and download the 64 page manual. Lots of good info.that will help clear up some questions.

Hey, people complain when you suggest they search for an answer, so instead I just give them all the answers.

That's one way of doing it... I will have to use that lmgtfy link on my coworkers

Kyseeker,
FO gave you an expecially good tip when you suggested you download the manual. (It's also on the CD.)

Regardless of how many previous detectors you've used/owned, I will only emphasize that you MUST carefully read every word in the manual...front to back...at least three times.

The overwhelming majority of the answers to your questions are already there. (I will admit Minelab dropped the ball pretty badly by not including a printed manual.)

I've seen the CTX often quoted as being a 'turn on and go' detector. I believe that statement to be false in the extreme...but as a geek, you'll love it!

good luck and happy hunting,
mike

Jason,

Oh, man...you're going to get me in trouble. That Imgtfy site is awesome!

I can tell already I'm not going to be able to resist using it.
