CTX 3030/Bad shoulder?

I was wondering how many Bad shoulder E-trac users like myself have hunted with the supposedly well balanced CTX 3030? Does the balance really make that much of a difference on long hunts with your shoulder? I love my E-trac,But my shoulder doesn't. I may consider one only if it is that much easier on my shoulder to justify the extra cash. Thanks.

Much easier than E-Trac on my back and shoulder and as for the superior balance claims.....ZERO HYPE it is as stated, perfectly balanced:thumbup:

I can hunt all day with mine, my explorer two about a hour and a half .That said it's worth the extra cost in it self you will love it no bs.

No "supposedly" on the balance. You can truly extend the lower shaft and balance this machine behind the control panel on 1 finger. It does not pull on your arm and your shoulder like the E-Trac does. It actually reminds me somewhat of using my Excalibur mounted on the straight shaft, the way it swings.

The detector sure seemed light to me due to the balance. I felt it a little bit after two hours, but with the E-Trac I would feel it a lot more and a lot sooner!

Depending on your shoulder, it might not bother it. 5 pounds is not heavy, but I think the twisting motion can get to a back (like mine) or a shoulder. What someone suggested and I follow is to first - shorten your swing. That takes less energy and strength off the back and shoulder, etc. 2nd, keep the coil closer to your feet rather than farther away. That takes pressure off everything in my opinion.

Ideally, you should just try to hunt with one for a few hours if possible.

Hope that helped,
Albert

I rigged up a sling that REALLY made the difference with my ETRAC,,,, I could go all day and it unhooked/hooked from it very easy,,,, I can take some pics if you like in case you wanna/should do it for your E,,,,,, it is very easy to install on ALL your MD and I am ready to set it up on my 3030 once it gets here,,, if I need it,,,

I was hunting with an Explorer which is very similar to an etrac. I have a very bad neck, upper back and shoulder. The Explorer was a killer, so I had a 705 Xterra as a back up / trade off detector. I got my CTX3030 a week ago and the first thing I notice, even before turning it on, was how balanced design made it seem way lighter that the Explorer. After swinging it for 6 or 7 hours over the last week, I find it way easier on me. It is more like the Xterra than the Explorer. The one thing I have noticed is a little muscle sorness which I believe is because I'm using a slightly different set of muscles to use it than I used for the Explorer. It doesn't aggravate my injuries, just strengthening the muscle. I'm sure a few more outings and all will be well. I have read other post that have similar comments as mine. Can't say for sure it will be the same for you, but I do think you will have fun checking it out. I'm still amazed at all the stuff it does. Also, seems lots a folks are finding good stuff in place they considered hunted out. As for me, there was this on yard that I hunt every year at least 2 or 3 times. Haven't got silver there since 2005. Was hunting there maybe 10 minutes an nailed a Merc and a wheatie together. I'm going back soon, maybe this evening. Hope this helps.

I have posted this in the past, if you add EXTRA weight to the top end of your Etrac and balance it just right your now heavier ET actually feels lighter and easier to swing. You can actually use a loose grip and no need for the arm cup strap, try it. The CTX is much easier on the wrist, arm, shoulder, and back than the ET because of this balance.

Thanks for the reply's! And by the way, anyone want to loan me one for a week or so to try out? Just kidding!
