CTX 3030 Arrives Today!!

So I got a killer deal on a barely used CTX 3030 and it should be waiting for me when I get home from work. It was about the same price as my Etrac, so I couldn't pass it up. I have been pouring over the forum posts and youtube vids over the past week to get prepared... but thought I would ask the question again....

What do I need to know about the CTX to get me going?

I have watched and read mixed reviews... some that absolutely love the CTX, and some that have sold their CTX and gone back to the Etrac. What appeals to me most about the CTX is the faster processor and the target separation capabilities using target trace and also being able to set up the tone bins... though it is still a little bit daunting. Hoping you CTX wizards can offer some words of wisdom to a new user.

Thanks!!!

Other than warranty issues, imo the only people that don't like the CTX are those that are incapable of using it to the extent of its abilities. Or people who haven't swung one enough to see the potential. This is NOT being critical of those that have sold their CTX's(tho I think a bunch of them are just other brand trolls). Not everyone has the same background, intellectual ability, patience, hearing, strength/disabilities to swing one. We are all different and no single machine suits everyone even if they hunted in the same soil.

(you're gonna LOVE target trace)

Well said Champ. I hope I have the intellectual capacity to make this machine sing for me. ;)

I have owned other brands and they weren't a match for me... the Etrac fit me like a glove, I am hoping the CTX is the glove for the other hand (the dominant hand).

So Champ... what is your "go to" setup? Understanding that all ground, and swingers are different, I am interested to know what works for you.

tiftaaft, post a few more things. I tried to PM you but I think you need a few more posts. Shoot me a PM when you can.

Oh, ok, sorry about that, I am fairly new to the forum... how many posts do I need.

Btw, just finished putting her together... it is going to rain tomorrow.. but that won't stop me!!

Congratulations!!! Let me know what you think of it after swinging it a few weeks (or months). I've had the E Trac for awhile now as well and I'm looking to upgrade. I don't think that the learning curve will be all that bad from e trac to ctx . I can't speak for anyone but myself but if I'm putting upwards of 2000 in a detector I'm going to be able to utilize all that it has to offer me. Have a happy thanksgiving and as always happy hunting!

My opinion ... makro racer 2 with nel thunder search coil . And do it ... it's better and simple and not heavy .. Regards
