Yesterday afternoon we went dirt giggin' again. Dave, Nancy, Leanna, Sarah, and I spread out along the high ground in a field Civil War Troops camped in, to see what they had lost and we could find.

"Dances With Bullets" scores with a nice save on a Yankee infantry button, just look at that smile! SHOW OFF!

Closeup of smiling Dave's eagle "I". Dave was hunting with a Tesoro Tejon. He claims the button was 2 foot down under a big grass clump... well, OK Dave, maybe not that deep, but deep, huh?

Leanna digs this "really bad signal", figuring its another .22 bullet or peice of buckshot, and comes up with a Yankee eagle button of her own, her first. Now both my girls have Civil War buttons within 2 days of their first hunt. Leanna was using my backup XLT; both girls have tons of patience and tenacity... their artists, you know. They keep the coil right on the grass ~ I told them there's no relics in the air!

Closeup of Lee's first eagle button.

I got a couple bullets and this heavy brass "thingy". I figure it was either the handle of a desk bell or something along those lines, or possibly an old fashioned door ringer. Talk about a great signal, I thought I had a belt plate.

Here's our finds for the afternoon. Sarah found the little brass leather keeper; she was using my Tesoro Cutlass U Max. Nancy found the tent pole ring, Lee found the star-flower, heart and buckle. We all got bullets and there's a Spencer casing. The saga continues today.
Vernon, Dave and Girls... Out.
