This is the place where Nancy found the very old gold ring a couple weeks ago (any word on the ring or have you had it cleaned yet Dave? We sure would like to see it all gussied up)

As soon as I got there, all the cows came up and gathered around me. Then they parked their lazy hides right on the house site, and laid there about an hour chewing their cud.

I started detecting around them using the Blue Max Mini Shooter DD. My first good find was this .58 caliber 3-ringer at 8" between tons of trash.

Did I mention trash? I was there about 3 hours, filled my pouch four times and had to go empty it in the hollow of an old stump. Like I said, its a house site with a lot of trash, but at least its old trash, not one pull tab. This thing was pretty cool. Dunno what it is, but I like it.

Good targets were everywhere between the trash. Kind of got excited when I first pulled this badge out of the ground. Unfortunately it wasn't the army of the north, or the south. Its an old Salvation Army badge. If you're not aware of it, the Salvation Army dates back well into the 1800 hundreds.

Found a lot of stuff like this I didn't keep... an old horse bit I guess. Also found five ax heads, parts of ornate woodstoves, fire pokers, etc. etc.

Here's some of the better stuff I didn't throw away. The little coil was surprisingly good at reaching down further into the ground than I had anticipated, and sounding off on good metal. All you had to do was go slow, and a good target was about 3 feet away from the last one. There's about a gazillion more like this there. I'm surprised I didn't find one button or coin, maybe next time. The tag with the print on it is an ol rail road tag. Has the senders name on it and where it's going.
