The bullets were running deep today. The moist ground enhanced some signals that had been passed over. They were running between 8 and 13". The signal was more of a faint sonar blip than the beep of a metal detector. Some of them could only be heard at certain angles and most of them were just a single blip one way. My first one in the photo is a cleaner bullet. Click on photos to enlarge.

4 or 5 bullets later I get a Civil War equipment J hook.

Got a fairly shallow signal, thought it was another .22 casing. Only about 3" deep, it is a company letter... well, part of a company letter anyway. "K" I think, it's upside down in the picture. I can't picture it being anything else but a K. If you see something else, let me know.

Typical abyss; just retrieved another bullet from the bottom of this hole. The top of the 12" digger is 2" inches below ground level. I am thankful that the rain made digging about 99% easier.

Time to go. I don't know what cows turn into at night, but I ain't hanging around to find out.

Digs for this evening. I tried to find the rest of that company letter, but all I came up with was 3 percussion caps and a small grommet. Bottom ball is a clay marble I found the other day while digging a piece of metal Thanks for looking y'all.
