Went back to the new site today, made a few saves and mostly scouted more of the land, must have walked four miles. When I first got there I started finding Spencer bullets again, then I got a whole Spencer. But when I went back to the van for a new drink, the bullet had broken off of the Spencer cartridge. Maybe I can glue it back on. Finally got my first button from this site. As you can see, the ground is bone dry and encrusted on this Yankee eagle button.

As bad as it looks here, it actually scrubbed up decently. Has a small pinhead size hole near the edge.

About five minutes later, got another eagle button. This one came out of the ground in a lot better shape.

Let the scouting begin... Went to the lower pasture and crisscrossed it for about an hour, found nothing but shotgun brass. Mountain Man and I have not found a bullet off the hill of the first pasture... well, I take that back, I did find one fired Spencer near the lower pasture, but I'm sure it was fired from the upper pasture. I crossed 2 little creeks and went into the furthest pasture. Got a deep signal reading VDI 90. 10" down I pulled this thin silver disc out, not sure what it is, maybe the back of a pocket watch. Looked for the rest of it, but no luck.

Walked up a long hill, then the pasture flattened out. Its pretty big. Spent 3 hours up here, hitting the high ground and poking around in the woods a bit. Unfortunately the only thing I found was a Civil War belt rivet and broken ax head... but there's still an awful lot of land to check out up there.

This is my digs from 2 outings. Went for 2 hours the other morning and got an eagle button and 1865 Indian head penny. The rest I got this afternoon. Thanks for looking,
