:csflag: Today's diggings...

Went back to the old house site for the third time this week, mostly using the small coil again. Today I climbed between the barbed wire fence into the pasture, turned on my machine, balanced it, took three swings and BAM... got this eagle button. Its smooshed, but I'll take it. Look, my hands aren't even dirty yet! That's the way I like to start a hunt. Started circling on the button and got a very small convex civilian button.

Went to where I thought would be a good place to set up tents if you were an army during the Civil War and happened to be camping by this old house, which they were. Soon as I got there I got this pistol bullet, then two more bullets and two percussion caps.

Took a couple more loads over to the hole. The hole is completely filled and is now spilling onto the ground; I think you can see five or six ax heads just from this picture. There's several more underneath them. By this time I was working on a pretty good sunburn, and the wind blowing 20-25 mph wasn't helping either; I look like a shining red tomato this evening.

Here's my keepers for the day; notice the ear (CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?) to the right of the pocket watch. I have found quite a few pieces to various metal sculptures at this house site. Last year I found several large pieces to a metal lions heads that would have been about the size of a softball. Day before yesterday I found a woman's metal foot. But what has eluded me so far is a coin; I have not found one coin at this house site, but there's still more to pick through. Butch, this is the big field I took you and Pam to a couple years ago.
