[size=large]Took a new friend detecting today. He said he wanted to try Civil War relic hunting, and he really wanted to find a bullet. So I loaned him my backup XLT. This is our third trip out, and he finally got his bullet. In fact, he found three bullets today. A Burnside, a Spencer, and a cleaner bullet. The last time I took him out, he found an 1851 large cent, and a nice grape shot (grape shot is like buckshot for a cannon; the grape shot is about 1 1/2 in diameter, steel balls). I was happy he finally found his bullet. I ordered an MXT for him through Ed in Florida, he should be getting it the first part of next week.
Below is a picture of my digs for the day. I got four dropped Burnsides and Spencers (I gave one to a 9 year old boy that lives at the property). There's three other fired Civil War bullets in the photo, most of a heel plate with a heart on it, a first for me; a big buckle, harmonica reed, piece of silver marked sterling, lantern adjustment bracket, and a couple other whatsits. So, while Ray sat on his duff today watching ball games, Bubba and I are out scarfing up the goodies. Click on photo to enlarge.
