:csflag: Sunday dig'em ups...

Couldn't sit around this afternoon and do nothing, so I tossed some Mountain Dew in the cooler and headed for the cavalry camp.

Hopped the fence and hit a couple of bullets and Spencer bases. Then got a good reading for a whole Spencer on its side; VDI 77 at 7". Cut a little larger plug than normal so the movement of the hard dirt wouldn't break it. Yep, thar she be... a little tweaking with a pocket knife and it came out whole, and in good shape for the shape it's in. Click on photos to enlarge.

Cool... got two whole Spencers today.

It was a nice day as longs the sun stayed behind the clouds. But when the sun came out, it was way too hot.

I was walking through the woods, and came upon the biggest funnel spider's nest that I'd ever seen. I don't know how many of you are familiar with funnel spiders, but obviously by the name, they build a web in the shape of a funnel. I've seen many of them, but usually like 18" wide, 18" deep. The funnel spider itself is a good-sized spider, and fast as lightning. The nest in this picture is 10 feet from me; it is 3 foot high and 3 foot wide, looked like a small tornado. I saw the spider that built that behemoth, he had to weigh a half a pound.

Digs for the day.

I think these whole Spencers look real nice in these cases. Thanks for looking y'all.
