:csflag: Some happenings and friends while detecting. Plus got to meet some people for the first time because of this forum...

Here's Bubba, a man with his head on straight... can't say as much for his headphones and hat. Got to meet him a couple months ago when he came to Virginny. We went and dug-up some relics ~ hope we can do it again sometime... in the meantime I've been studying a book called "Deep South Brogue or Speaking in Tongues?... How to Tell the Difference", written by B.R Groanings. Hope to be able to actually communicate with him next time.

This character is Greg Heath "Mountain Man", for some strange reason he answered my post when I first moved to Virginia. I had posted something to the tune of "Wanted~ I'm new to Virginia, looking for a die-hard relic hunter to take me to all his good relic spots". Greg contacted me and said he would...well who'da thunk it!? Now he can't get rid of me. Here's the Mountain Man doing the jig after finding a nice Confederate button one day while we were hunting a Yankee camp.

Butch and his wife Pam came a couple years ago and we got to relic hunt a couple days and see a few sites. Butch wasn't afraid of snakes as he held Sarah's 4 foot snake for several minutes before passing out. He seemed to hit it off with this jackass at one of the places we detected and both became rather vocal, it was hard to distinguish who was saying what as they vied for intellectual prowess. Butch and Pam are a great team, hope they can make it back one day.

Daughter number two, Leanna, with her first Civil War bullet. She searched for 2 days with an obssession as great as Captain's Ahab's search for the white whale and finally, her bullet rose from the depths. She went on to find several more bullets as well as Union Civil War buttons.

This is daughter number 3, Sarah, 12 in this picture. She is the relic wonder. On her first Civil War relic hunt, she dug a nice Union eagle button 12 minutes after getting out of the truck. She has since found many more bullets, buttons, and in this picture she has just recovered 9 whole Spencer bullets plus 7 other bullets from one hole. Of the girls, she likes to relic hunt the most... so far anyway.

Dave and his wife Nancy came last spring to do a little relic hunting. For those who don't know, David came up to Alaska and helped me drive from Alaska to Idaho on my move to Virginia. Dave wrote a hilarious synopsis of that trip that has been posted on the forum at least twice. We had a great time as both Dave and Nancy found relics, and it was a joy to see the excitement in Dave's relic adventures. We also got to do a little sight seeing while they were here, hope they can make it back for another adventure.
