:csflag: Hit an old house site in the woods today; nothing more really than a standing stone chimney and a few foundation stones....

I was digging a little of this, that, and the other, when I got another good signal and started scraping the leaves away with my foot. When I did this, I saw an old clay jug buried half way in the ground and it looked really good. But I'm thinking to myself, I'll bet the whole bottom end is broken out of it. I pulled it out of the ground and lo and behold, it's all in one piece! ... my first whole one. Rechecked where the jug had been laying and still getting a signal, dug down and got a little buckle.

Above is the jug cleaned up, it's in really nice shape. I put a coat of Liquid Gold on it, give it a little bit of shine. Below is my digs for the day, nothing great and will probably end up throwing most of it away. Have to go back another day and dig a little more. Thanks for looking.

That is a very nice jug-was it full of moonshine? Hope you ran the detector over the fireplace, some hid things in the bottom or front behind loose stones.

Very neat Jug as she cleaned up really nice. :clapping:
I also dig the 2 flat buttons and the 3 ringer.

I am thinking the owner was drinking some spirits from the JUG while eating soup with his SPOON.
A raider broke in by pulling that left HANDLE which broke open the door of the owners cabin.
In a hurry the owner on spirits trying to pull his revolver caught his clothing on his chair at which time his little BUCKLES broke off and two FLAT BUTTONS fell to the floor.
The owner finally pulled his revolver then shot at the raider and the 3 RINGER missed the raider going out the open door and falling into the ground.
The owner on spirits then grabbed the CANDLESTICK HOLDER and threw it at the fleeing raider hitting the raider in the head.
The raider at the door stumbled and grabbed the remaining HANDLE at the door pulling it off as well at which time he ripped a CUFF LINK off along with the other BUTTON pictured.
Being raided and very angry the property owner was upset and threw his oil lamp which broke and the WICK HOLDER detached and fell to the ground which then caught the cabin on fire.
The good part of the story is the raider was caught.
The owner rebuilt a new cabin in a better location.

The other things where not part of this story and where simply dropped by his children at some time.
