CScope CS7

Looking to maybe pick a C7S up used. Being from the UK I'm familiar with Cscope, but just wondered if anybody has any feedback on this machine. From my understanding it's an Eric Foster design.

The CS7 UMD was Eric's design I assume based on the 6pi but optimised for water use. Bigger coil. Looked great and had some good features such as the battery compartment seperate from the electronics and a detachable control box.

I'd consider before parting with any money. If your not going in the water there's better machines as (a) its going to be old (b) there were questions about reliability not being as good as the 6pi. Think this was something to do with build quality or componants rather than water leaks. I think ! (c) I could pick up silver hammered on some beaches with the 6. The 7 wasn't as good perhaps due to the need to cope with water above the coil.

Just had a niggling thought that I read that Eric designed it but that C-Scope decided to modify for some reason.

Hi Brian,

Basically the only change that CScope did was to use a microcontroller to generate the timing. This did give some problems initially in not starting up, or having started would unaccountably stop after a period of time. This fault was eventually cured.
