Yes, I know you shouldn't meddle, but I'm curious as to whether one controls the SAT and could be relocated externally

I highly doubt any internal control is connected to the SAT in any way. I suspect the internal controls are quite similar to those on the CS 6PI and those controls are for the preamp, or a special circuit to minimize certain signals. Both are extremely critical and it is not recommended anyone try to tamper with them.

I know for sure on the CS 6, none of the controls are to adjust the SAT.

Thanks for the answer, I just thought I'd ask. Seems a good unit but useless on gold chains for some reason.

I suspect the reason the detector doesn't do well on gold chains is because of the minimum delay of the unit and not the SAT. It is difficult for any PI to do well on thin gold chains, so I wouldn't expect the CS 4 to be any different.

I'll have to put up with it then, until I can afford something that's capable of adjustment to a lower uS.
