CS4 PI

Digging4fun

Hi guys, got a couple of years (3 times a week, every week) saltwater beach hunting with various Minelab Sovereigns. I've decided, rightly or wrongly to move over to a PI machine as I'm fairly certain some of the good stuff's registering as iron. I figure if I'm going to start digging everything, I may as well run a PI.

Now I know the CS4PI is pretty much an entry level PI but would you say that's a good place to start? I was looking at building the Magenta 847 kit, but the CS4PI, (even a new one) in the UK is around $400 and their factory/HQ is like 5 miles away from me, so any hassle with it...

The CS4 is a good PI. It will do you quite well. It's sensitivity is up there, and it will do good on the beach.

Got my CS4pi and had approx 5 hrs with it yesterday. Very different from the Sov; beach was well sanded in, so not much to find. Seems fairly sensitive though, 1 gold earring back about 4" deep with a fairly easily noticed signal. Easy to use and pretty rugged build quality. I'll get some single use high amp Duracells/Energisers as I stuffed some carbon zincs in it just to try it out and they're probably a bit lower on amps.
Thanks :)

Hello there. I am up here in Blackpool with the same thought about getting one of these for the beach. How is it on the arm muscles compered to the Sov? (i have an XS2a Pro).
They are a good price at the moment with some good deals on the Net.
Post some finds reports if you get the chance. I'd be interested.
Dave.

You won't think your holding a detector compared to your Minelab. The C-Scope lighter in weight and has a better balance without the need to rear mount the control box as with the Sovereign.
The 6Pi it was developed from was an excellent machine (designed by Eric) but it was a little wearing on the arm for me. The new version is supposed to be improved in performance though I haven't been able to compare the two together. A great plus is the ability to de mount the control box if you require.

I still prefer the Goldquest SS but pound for pound the 4Pi is one of the best bargains on the market especially if you don't buy direct from the manufacturer. Dealer prices vary by up to

Thanks Brian. Sounds like the same weight as the Tesoro Silver Sabre Umax that i had. Regtons are doing a good deal at the moment. It looks like the more i inquire about this machine the closer i am to buying one.
Good luck. Dave.

Thats the best new price including delivery I've seen on it. I should buy now before they change their mind !

I had a Sov for three years on the beach every other day. It's ALOT lighter. I had my control box rear mounted as far as I could get it and straight shaft but the way I'm doing it now with the cscope is chest mounted. Best deal I've seen is the famous action site. Brian's right, dealer's must get a good discount. I paid 219 ukp delivered from the south east's associate of Regtons. Incredible deal

Hi all!! I know this post is old but I'd like to get my two-pence worth too!:bouncy:I have a CS4PI and man it's a v,good machine and finding the end of an old coke can with it at 2 feet deep is annoying but at the same time truly amazing!!!,great machine.

Yes its an old thread now on this post!
The CScope is a very good entry level PI,simple fuss free an very reliable, well worth the money.an a good history, else they still wouldnt be sold today! still!
But dont overlook a good built Magenta Kit847,they got good depth an very simple 1 pot control, with a good coil(a good coil is the secret for good performance) on these home built kits,I think.Yes I have one as well as a Cscope.
Both Though arent good for Gold chain tho,Silver always a bit more responsive than gold tho.Deep trash! well Good for both!
