Found in central Florida. Several experts have authenticated it. Anyone have an idea what its worth?

CS Cartridge Box plate. Awesome. Congratulations. Its quite a treasure to me.... CCH

That's a find of a lifetime. Very nice buddy.

Can't put a dollar sign on History. Being a Confetrit piece to me personally, makes it Priceless. This artifact is every Relic Hunters dream. Congrat's to you on a once in a lifetime save and find.

I really appreciate all your responses! I have a collection that wants it badly. I could use the extra $ to do more hunting. I just need an idea what it’s worth. One if the experts that examined it said maybe as much as 8k to 12k. I would really appreciate any thoughts.

Think your quote may be high, but no expert. CW relics have dropped over the past 20 years. Good luck

Yes the guys at the horse soldier would know what its worth for sure. I've had them appraise stuff for me in the past.

Sure. PM me any thoughts you may have.

Also, Horse soldier has never seen one like it and neither has several collectors/dealers they have shown it.

I am planning to take it to a CW trade show to see what I can find out.

You do not have enough posts to receive a private message. In short, see the link in the post above. It is my opinion that it is definitely in the ballpark.

Update on my CS plate!

I have had several collectors personally inspect it all tell me it is authentic. I was also told it is definitely not a cartridge bag plate. It is too small to be used that way. All of these guys tell me they have never seen one like this and that they think it is rare.
I found it about 1 foot under ground at a very old deserted home site.

One very experienced collector told me that he thinks it was possibly a decorative piece made for a high ranking officer. Could have been off a bridle or saddle.

It has been suggested that I take it to the Oct show in PA and show it around.

I appreciate all the help and advice from all of you!

Thanks for the update. It is an incredible find. Congrats and we look forward to hearing more on this story. CCH

If it is alright to ask, tell us a a little about what you were using when you found this. I have never been that blessed. My father found one, and I happened to be with a friend that found another. Both were dug with Whites...….Not a commercial or advertisement. Just the truth...…..I like to hear about finds such as this....Thanks.....

Can you take a picture of the back buddy? That'd really help with the iding it. Take a nice close up that's clear.

I haver never seen attachments like that on any type of Civil War era buckles or plates. Also, I have never seen stamping "3" on the back. of any CW buckles or plates. I am curious if this is cast brass and what the true dimensions are. A good description and good close up photos would help in trying to get an accurate ID.

Everyone is asking for pictures of the BACK side of this artifact. Thanks. CCH
