crusty coppers

Found my first 2 center today but it has this real thick crust overlay and wondering if anyone has a good remedy for cleaning. HH.

The two cent was found about 8 inches down top 3 inches was gravel and the indians were found together I think the gravel and the fact that the indians were laying on top of each other caused the crust.

try soaking them in olive oil for a few days, that might help.

Put hydrogen peroxide in a glass dish and heat it in the microwave. Drop the coins in after removing from microwave do each coin separately leave in about an hour each time, may have to repeat several time they way they look. Try to get dates off them before doing this and do nothing to any key date. If they are common dates no harm due to the state they appear to be in and it will give you a lot nicer looking coin when you are done. The Indian in the top left of the picture looks like it was placed behind a fuse back in the day with the raised weld mark on it nothing you are going to do about that. Great finds and let us see how they clean up HH
