Hey everyone, been awhile since I've posted anything worthy. I just received my ATPro and Pro-pointer back from the doctor (Garrett). I was having issues where the machine was erratic. They replaced my 8 x 11 coil, the pc board inside the control box and also replaced my pro-pointer! My buddy and I hit a farm that we've been pulling oldies out of for the last 2 years. We arrived to find that the grass hasn't been cut in about a month. Frustrated, we still decided to weedwhack, errr detect rather lol.
We started off a few hundred feet apart from each other. My very first signal which was bouncing in the 60's - 70's turned out to be a coin 4 - 5" deep. I thought for sure it was an Indian that was toasted. It had the green corrosion caked on both sides. I put it in my pocket and carried on. Not much was found between us, just the usual brass lead and iron from days gone past. As we were walking back to the truck, I started scraping off some of the green corrosion from both sides of the indian. The more I looked at the coin, the more I thought it could very well be a Flying Eagle cent. After a little spit and scraping with my thumb nail I saw a date of 1858. Right then and there I knew I had a flying eagle center. I haven't had a first in about 3 years and I gotta tell ya, it was awesome! Although the condition is very poor, at least I know what it is and most importantly, it still has a visible date! Thanks for viewing and HH
