cross saving

New member
can some explain cross saving.I intend to order Andy"s book but have to wait getting new adress.

example ; turn on machine to coin. now press and hold relic button down until saved appears, you now have icons with ferrous sounds. this will work with any of your search modes. to go back to factory settings hold power button down until factory settings appear on your screen. i hope this helps you.

Thanks Hershey1.So as I see it I can select coin jewelry press and hold down all metal till saved comes up which allows me to now have a ferrous tone in coin jewelry mode.Does this give better depth as well .Other advantages there are to cross saving could you explain.Thank you for your help.

You might want to custumize your own search mode and save it. For example push coin mode notch out everything but 14-15-33-34-35-36-3738-?39. iuse this often when I don't have much time. You can cross save to relic or all metal for ferrous sounds or leave it in conductive whichever sound you prefer. or go to all metal cross over to coin?jewelery and you will vhave no discrimination and icons. Just get out and find what works for you. HH:minelab:

I cross save the same way as hershey and I seem to hear the various tones better and have better finds. It cuts out a lot of the unnecessary noise or at least for my hearing level. Onus

I'm still learning, so I really can't tell the advantage of cross saving yet, I'm sure a bright light will come on sometime when I find something really good and check the difference out..........MO

I use a similar mode to hershey as well, but I wouldn't scrim out 30,31,32, unless you are just hunting clad. Lots of wheateis and injuns will come in at low 30's as well as most of my military and frock buttons I have found. I would also include 13, nickels are at 14 MOST of the times, but I've had them come in at 13 and 15.

I got Andy's book right here and just so happened to just finish reading the subject of cross saving.

The tones can be based on conductivity or Ferrous content.

By selecting plain ole coins or coins/jewelry mode the tone is based on conductivity but this means that a dime, quarter and even a silver dollar will have the same tone and the same ID. So in order to get more info from the detector you can have it so that the tones are based on Ferrous content instead of conductivity.

So, if you are like me an into getting coins/jewelry what you do is

Turn on the detector and hit Relics mode

Press and hold one of the coins buttons to store it in, I never use just coins mode so I would press AND HOLD "Coins Mode"

Now I will see a little stick figure there under my coins mode button.

When ever I press this button it will work just like my stock coins mode (Icons will show) but the SOUNDS will be based on ferrous content. So a quarter, dime and penny may all read 37 or 38 but they will have a very different sound.

You can then also modify your discrimination settings and save to the same button.
