CROOKED homeowners insurance

Ok , here is my dilema. I need to get it on my own. I have been paying the lady's estate I bought the house from but she died last month. So HERE is the problem.

I bought this house for 25.000.00. IF it was a total loss, I could clean the basement out, fill the lot with dirt and buy another house just like it now for 16.0000.00.

BUT NOOOOO I have to inusre it for REPLACEMENT cost and they say to build a one story thousand square foot home it would cost 150 THOUSAND. Yea RIGHT. If it burns do we need to clear all the dirt off the lot and import new dirt from China? Seems like the basement would still be there and the land. I guess the new house would be sided in gold. NO They will find a million ways to give me NOTHING.

This isn't the worst of it yet though!!! I only owe 7,000.00 and its mine. NOBODY will insure it for anything less than 50,0000.00. OK lets say that is ok. I will get 50 grand to make a park out of it and buy a new home. BUT , since my wife died and I lost everything because she ran the business. I NOW have BAD credit. SO, they think MAYBE I will BURN my house down to collect the insurance I DON'T WANT, so my premiums are higher. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I can't win for losing here. ALL I want is to insure it for 30.000. or less just to pay off the STUPID lawyer and move somewhere else or put a roof over the basement and live in it.

This still isn't the worse that is happening to me right now, but its an idea of what kind of balony I am having to put up with.

Bummer! Yeah, that insurance is a real racket...selling a "promise" must be nice...no production schedules to meet, and no shipping! And they make it sound like you cant live without medical, like if you dont have it, you will die tomorrow! I have to pay "high risk" auto, know why? 'cause I drive a lot...havn't had a ticket or an accident since the late 80's, and even then I didn't spill my coffee...I should get a prize for being such an attentive driver! I dont have an answer for you here, Scuba, just comiseratin'

Last year I was informed by my insurance company that my residence would no longer be covered if a tree fell on it. The premium has gone up with less coverage. My health insurance has gone up more than 200 % in the last ten years and I've never had to stay in a hospital (I'm 62)......I've had no major illnesses. My car insurance company charges me more for being single which amounts to about 89 dollars a month for two vehicles, I'm the only driver and have a perfect driving record.

Scuba-D.......I hope you find a solution to your problem. I personally have very little love for insurance companies, they make me feel like I'm being stiff armed by the mafia........either you pay or you lose........

What you are doing is insuring it for future replacement costs, not today's prices. If you did it at today's prices and lets say you had to replace it in 10 years because it was destroyed in a storm or burnt down.........what would the replacement cost be in 10 years based on the market then and not now. What you pay for on insurance is for tomorrow, not yesterday. Insurance companies got it all figured out, you just have to make sure you are adequately covered for the future.
