Crime Scene training

I am a forensic scientist educator and interested in Nancy Fillman's, or others who teach and train csi's and law enforcement on use of metal detectors. I currently have a White's Spectrum. Any advice on course content, etc. would be desired.

I am the other half of the Larry and Nancy team and our program starts out with the history of metal detectors and work our way up to how they work and why and the proper way to use the detector. We show the students a variety of detectors that are used as well as accessories for both land and under water use. We go over what they might be hunting for and the best way to use the detector for each scenario including bullets, cartridges, weapons and jewelry. We also cover recreational use of metal detecting because if the students take up detecting as a hobby they will have a much better understanding how they can be beneficial in their work. We have a lot of question and answer time as well.

In the advanced section of the course we go over griding the crime site with twine and flagging targets and then it is outside with some hands on experience with griding, hunting and flagging. We usually have at least two and sometimes three instructors working with smaller groups of the class so everyone can have some personal time detecting bullets and cartridges with emphasis on proper technique and answer more questions......... lots of questions....
