Been detecting quite a few years now and never had anything like this happen. I was detecting on a Dog beach where dogs are allowed to run free. I like dogs and occassionally take my dog there to run and swim.
I was hunting the wet sand when behind me came running three dogs at full speed. One of the dogs got too close and got his neck caught around the cable wire which runs from my hip mount to the coil. I got yanked hard and the dog got flipped head over heals. Poor dog got up and looked at me like I was the devil.
Luckily no permanent damage was done to anything.
