 A Few Weekend Nuggets From Rye-Patch

Gus in idaho

New member
Got back last night from a short trip down to Rye-Patch. It was a hot SOB and made it difficult to concentrate on the soft mellow sounds my GPX-4000 was making.
I have spent several minutes with each target over the last 3 outings and now believe I have my settings just right.
Three of the nuggets were around a foot deep, and have most likely been passed over by previous detectors, for they were but whispers in my headphones.
Nothing big here but I was most impressed with the capabilities of the 4000.

Nice gold.
Thought you would like the 4000.
Do you use a booster?
I've been using a 4500 but it hasn't produced more gold over patches that produced well for me with the 4000, so far anyway.
I did find good gold in a patch I hadn't taken the 4000 to and at the moment I think for me there isn't much difference between the two.

Hey Gus Good Buddy:clapping:
Real Nice Pieces! If these were ones you missed your gonna digging plenty at RP:cheers:
I`m glad the 4000 is dialed in,Your mind is probably starting to wander about some other spots you need to re-visit:wiggle:

Take care Bud and talk soon

Marc,
Good to hear from you bro, :buds: this forum is all but dead... I sure wish Doc would do something with it.
I have revisited the area where I think you are talking about, and it only produced 1 more small 1 gram nugget for me. Maybe when and if I get the 4000 mastered I will pay another visit there.
But for now, the 3000 I took through there has em cleaned out pretty well.
I sure hope we can hook up this fall sometime, Maybe Gerry will put together another trip.

Alan,
No, I don't use a booster. Just my trusty headphones coming straight out of my battery.
The only advantage I see that the 4000 has over the 3000 as far as performance goes is its quieter, and will find smaller nuggets deeper. I sure don't think it will find a larger nugget deeper than the 3000. I have been over many of my old patches without any large deep nugget success.
I do like the LCD screen, and having more control over the machine.

Gus-

Maybe there were no deeper nuggets to get.....
I went from the Extreme to the 4000 so don't know about the 3000.
If your ground is mild enough to use mono's on earlier models then there is probably no advantage with sensitive/smooth.
It sure worked for me.
I like the battery that comes with the 4500.Been using it on my 4000. My wife uses the 4500.

You are right about this forum. Doc doesn't even advertise his products here anymore.
I always look in here when I'm in town. Maybe I should find somewhere else.......

Good luck
Alan
