Craig, where did you get that long handle shovel? Looks like a good one for the woods. How about a contest?

I went to a local building supply and bought it. Its for a long handle shovel and I cut off the curved end. I've got a buddy with a cabinet shop and used his edge sander to work it down. Make sure you get one that the diameter of the handle is a little larger than where it will slid in to get a snug fit. The shovels are Swiss Army surplus so the neck was metric and just under 1.5" and the handle was about 1 9/16" so it worked well. I used a high grade bolt and cut it off about 3/16 from where it stuck out and heated it and used a ball pin hammer to mushroom the head. I bought the shovels at www.cheaperthandirt.com for 19.97 ea. Item # MIL-1151 and they'll send ya a cool catalog.
