Cracks in Explorer

Can someone who has experienced a crack in their explorer take a photo with a dig. cam and post it for everyone to see, whilest Im new to this Id like to see so I know what to look for.

There was a picture on the FBS board a month or so back,I will see if I can find it.I have a crack but no digital camera. The cracks in question are on the upper rod locking mechanism. The black lever that tightens the upper shaft where it goes into the housing on the bottom of the detector. The cracks appear where the brass pin goes through the housing to hold the lever on.The cracks appear on the white(beige) part around the pin where the pin goes through. They start out as spider web looking, usually very small, sometimes it even takes a magnifying glass to see them.Like Jim Upstate NY said,I have not heard of the cracks causing a single detector from being used.Mine has had cracks almost since I got it and I still use it and have no fear of using it.

Now that I realize what you were posting below about the tree, let me ask you, when you were trying to pick up the coins what setting were you in? try it again but put machine in iron mask my hitting the iron mask button twice.. Its possble the coins you were testing were disced out in the preset program or something....

Thanks Jim for your suggestions I actually set the iron mask so it would accept everything but it wouldnt, even in pinpoint mode it wouldnt detect a target. Im not sure what the problem is but this weekend I will know a little more, Im going to see a guy whos Tasmanias MineLab man and see what he has to say, it may even be I have a faulty unit Im not sure but Ill keep ya posted. Actually I picked up some great info here , its good that theres alot of people out there with their great comments.

I guess what I would want to know right away is if my Explorer is actual broken......
I would power up the Explorer but hold down the power button for 5 seconds to restore 'factory presets'. Then I would go outside away from the house and throw a couple big coins on the ground where there's no trash(check the ground with a different detector if available, and not around the stump) and then in Detect mode I would see if the XS could now detect the coins. If it can hit these coins then the Explorer is probably not broken and just needs the settings correctly bumped up. Of course the XS should detect these coins at some distance but that's another test.
This test will check if any settings were counter productive by resetting the XS to factory presets.
