Here is fridays and todays finds. Lots of sinkers some junk jewelry a few clad a nice looking pocket knife and a History Channel Club Eagle/1776 Liberty Bell coin, oh and yeah a $1.00 trade token from a metal detector shop in Illinois. Don't know if I like that or if its a vacationing detectorists way of letting me know my new spot has already been picked over

Sadly no silver or gold, but the girls and I still had a good time.

Hope you all had a better go at the goods then I did,

Seems one of our members may have put me onto the owner of the " Detector trade-in $1.00 " token on another forum board. Went ahead a sent him a message. I let you all know what comes from it :D

Those token are always interesting....can't get much for a dollar at a MD store...should be $100.00..keep hunting and digging...you got to hit G/S sooner or later!! GL

Bob I hear you on the trade amount. Well I decided to just call the number on the coin and spoke with the man himself and shared a good laugh about the coin and my first thoughts after finding it.

He does own a detector shop and will leave his advertising at places he visits on travels. Which makes pretty good sense, consider odds are vert good that the one retrieving his coin is his target customer

Nevertheless I let him know his token will have a spot in my more unique finds case ;)

Dan, if I understood right this gentleman spends his time hunting fresh water in Illinois and salt water in Florida.

I figure it like this, leave the tokens, Advertising, possible business and at the very least maybe the finder makes contact and he gets an ideal of who is hunting where. He now knows that there is another water hunter in this area. Armed with that intel his next drive down to Florida. You could already know how to plan a route to have the better chance at a virgin swim hole that isn't actively hunted. Just my take on ;)

Not a bad game plan,

I think he just gives a handful to friends to salt the beaches on their travels. I told a local detector store owner and I think she wanted to impement the promotion herself
