couple small finds with a hole in them.....

Sure hate to post only relic like items, yet this is all I am finding lately. These items are the most curious of the bunch today from the same site as the dog tag listed earlier.

The one larger item is most likely a bell of some sort and the two smaller items by the dime I am not sure about. First thing that comes to mind is that they may be weights for a scale ? They look like miniature plumb bobs that you tie on a string to hang wall paper or mark straight lines onto walls with. These were all found within a 10 ft area.

I am not sure if the smaller items even would have been heard by a larger coil. If I ever take the 6 inch DD off, I will give ti a try.

Nice crotal bell, one of the smaller ones I've seen and almost certainly from the 1800's.... I've only ever found one, but it has quite a story. A dear lady friend of mine had a sleigh bell harness belt hanging up on her living room wall which had always been missing one crotal bell. It was one of two sleigh bell harness belts her grandfather used to put on her pony which he used to pull a small sleigh and grand kids around with at Christmas time each year. I now live on the same farm where all this took place. Last year shortly after taking up metal detecting, I got a hit out in the yard near where the old barn used to be and it turned out to be the missing crotal bell. I cleaned the bell up and remounted it in the exact same hole it originally came from and the sleigh bell harness now proudly sits up on her living room wall with all its crotal bells in place after having been missing one for over 50 years. How's that for a lost and found?

Those plumb-bob looking things, to me, look like some sort of decoration for a hanging lamp or chandelier.

Hey Jeff,

You may be correct on this. After reading your guess, I can picture em hanging there on a lamp..... They look like miniature weights that would attach to a clock chain BUT they are soo tiny. (maybe a wrist watch weight?))

I think you may have it though.

Only other idea I had was perhaps some scale weights for maybe measuring medicine ingredients or something like gold dust etc.....

Some of the stuff we find sure makes us wonder, dont they?

To me they look like fishing weights.
