Couple simple X70 questions

Hello Folks,

I have an X70 on the way and was wondering IF it has a backlight for the display AND does it have a default GB setting upon powering it on up.

The backlight is only on the newer X705 model.

If it is new out of the box C&T mode GB should be 27 & Prospecting should be in tracking mode. If you are asking whether the GB resets to a given value each time you power down, and then power up the detector, then the answer is no, there is no default. The GB will be whatever it was set to or tracked to when powered down. There are three ways to ground balance:

1. Manually(old school)
2. Automatically(bobb the coil and let the computer set it for you)
3. Tracking, turn it on & start detecting, it will track the ground for you

Thanks for the info Bill. I read the manual on-line and while I didnt see any reference to my questions, I didnt want to assume anything.

Tony, you will really like the X-70. I had one and loved it, but then I sold it to get the Etrac, the Etrac wasn't for me so I bought a X-705. I really like the X-705 but couldn't get the X-70 out of my head. So now I have the 70 and 705.....and use them both. I know.....sounds like a crazy love story:wacko:

Hi Harold ! Good to know the X70 works great for you in your area. I had the X30 and really liked it. The fella I used to let borrow it begged and pleaded for me to sell it to him. I shouldnt have BUT the X70 will surely take its place.

Do you use yours for inland or beach tecting? I plan on using it inland.

I will have 2 coils, the stock mf and an additional 9 inch LF coil. Looking forward to comparing the two and maybe getting a LF DD coil one day if I can find one.
