Couple of technical questions on the CTX

Thanks

I have had my CTX out twice now in a spot that I have found a few civil war bullets.

If you are hunting in Ferrous-Coin I have noticed that this can happen. When I hunt in F-C, my somewhat mineralized ground in Minnesota will constantly show a target in the 12-38 to 12-42 range. It drove me nuts at first but then I heard that others had the same experienced in mineralized ground and so I just learned that I shouldn't use F-C in areas that cause this. I would recommend you try different settings and see if your problem goes away. I hope this solves your problem. I'm sure someone else will contribute here soon with another idea of how to fix your problem.

Another piece of advice would be to tell us where you are hunting (rough area, don't worry, we don't need GPS coordinates) and tell us a little about your ground. It can help us a lot with trying to help you figure out what is going on with your settings for your ground.

Thanks Marc

Since you are in Minnesota and I am in Arkansas I don't think I need to worry about any claim jumping going on. Actually I am in northern Arkansas just south of the Missouri state line. 30 miles from Branson Missouri. It had been a while since I have used my F75 but the ground readings are usually in the upper fifties to low sixties I basically only relic hunt but will start coin hunting more with the CTX. Most of the coin places around here were hit really hard 25 years ago but probably not much since. That is why with this machine I hope I can find a few they left.

With hunting in FC and combine what would anyone suggest setting up pattern two with.

Thanks to all in advance

In +3 fer coin I was having the same issues,I just put it on +1 or auto and she ran smooth from there hope that helps

Here in east Tn we have some pretty minieralized soil in area's for me F-C works best the bumping things and causing flasing could be from the A+3 I would try +2 if that still occurs +1 and see if it settles down. What is your sensitivity meter showing 27 18 etc ? IF you are constantly getting a deep signal it very may be a setting. If it is hit and miss not repeatable try pinpoint (sizing) and see if it lines up where you think the target should be in the ground if it is off of that point left or right most likely junk like deep iron. When you jump around what range and how much? try circling the target and see if it will settle and as you said when in doubt dig it. Hope this helps

Matt

I personally find +3 a bit to hot and can cause falses.

Every signal that repeats needs to be dug. At least till you are positive you know what is down there. Otherwise we all are just guessing.

Although +3 works for some, it might be a little too hot for your ground. I would start with A and see how it works, then adjust upwards from there. In some ground I hunt in A and most of the time it is A+2.

I went this morning to the same field that I was getting the false hits. I went to +1 and it settled down. Tried plus 2 and it was OK. I tried a 50 conductive and that will take some getting used to. I didn't own an ETrac prior to this so it is like me trying to interpret a foreign language I'm a little slow but I eventually figure it out.

If you have other advise or settings please don't hesitate to share with me. You can email if you don't want to post your secrets.

Thanks to all who offered advice and help
Jim
