Man, that's something! Incredible finds, Neil. Always wanted to try one of those digs over there with you lads. Very impressive, a Richard, E1, and others.

Congrats, Neil!

Great Finds! Do you know any Roberts over there? My decendants are from Whales, sure would like to pay them a vist. Check out my web site at www.civilwarsi.com :ukflag: :csflag:

Roberts is a Welsh surname mate. Same as Jones, Phillips, Evans, Williams etc. Tens of Thousands of Roberts - I have two close friends with that surname. If you can give me a village name it may help.

cheers
Neil

Cheers Richard! The Lionheart coins are particularly scarce as he was only on the throne for ten years (1189Ad - 1199Ad) and spent the whole time in France, never setting foot in the UK whilst orchestrating the Crusades.

Bizzare find as it was only about 3 inches down in pasture. Great condition for a 850 or so year old coin.

Diolch yn fawr

You're most welcome.

But it us who should thanking you for the view of these fascinating coins. And offering a big hearty congrats!

I've a few hammered silvers, HVIII, Elizabeth I, Edward III, etc that I've purchased. But nothing like a Richard I. Mentioning my miniscule collection is only to point out I know an RI is scarce! And, as you mentioned, is in absolutely wonderful condition to be of that age!

Again, congratulations and best of luck with similar finds in the future!

Richard
