couple of questions on the AT PRO

Hello everyone, I am looking for a second detector to use for freshwater beach and water hunting as my primary land detector is a minelab e-trac. I would be using it wading in no more than about six feet of water. The questions I have are how long the batteries last and if you use rechargeable batteries? Also how is the depth in fresh water sand? Also does anyone use the waterproof headphones and if so how is the sound? Like I stated earlier I would be using this almost exclusively for water detecting. Thanks all and HH.

I use my ATP on saltwater sand and in the water, knee deep is about all I go due to the surf.

The battery life is the same in water, 20 plus hours. I don't currently use rechargeable, but have and recommend high end rechargeable. I prefer Duracell.

I have found a quarter in three inches of saltwater at a depth of 6 inches under the sand. And got a clear signal.

I don't use the waterproof head phones. The standard headphones work, but I think they are a little cheap for a $550 plus machine. As long as you don;t get them wet you'd be OK. At 6 feet in the water that may be difficult, unless you are 7 or 8 foot tall.

I use an at pro in freshwater and on the beach.Dont usually use at max sensitivity as the depth is good. Mine gets 30+ hrs on everady alkaline batteries. To use in 6 ft of water one should have the optional submersable headphones. The 5x8 coilis very good in depth & target separation, The stock coil is also very good for its size.
