Couple of neat finds

Larry (IL)

I got a chance to get out and hunt an older house and only found one wheat in the older coin category, but lots of interesting stuff including this belt buckle. I am still trying to put and accurate ID on it but having a hard time finding one on the Internet just like this one. I have found newer ones made of brass that date to the early 1900's, so I'm pretty sure this one date back to the late 1800's. Knights of Pythias was founded in 1864 and was the first fraternal organization to receive a charter under an act of the United States Congress. I have got a question in to the Order that is still in operation today. I think the buckle is cast bronze.

This is another find in the same yard today. No name anywhere but this cost some $$ in it's day. The mirror was shattered in the upper left side when I got it opened and the powder puff door and humidor vent both open and close. It looks like it was worn as a pendent. The compact is brass.

OK Larry, way to go. Rob

cool stuff.. I've got a line on a series of older homes that a friend of mine owns as rentals. Most are 100 plus years old, so now you've got me chomping at the bit to got swing the hoop around them :)

Really cool stuff, now you know why us relic hunters do what we do . You never know whats lurking in the ground:clapping:

Nice relics Larry!

This year I am using the relic mode almost all the time. Using hi pro when relics not as likely or looking for silver. Getting used to it.

Both are very cool, Larry!
