The original seems to be hot on nickles. My first hunt I found 4 and one had so much crud it looked like a slug. After scraping off it was a 1925 plain.I did find a couple of wheat's,but this detector likes hot rocks never noticed this with the XS Sovereign. After installing a remote pin pointer switch on the handle this helped, but those hot rock targets sure sound a lot like deep silver and can be frustrating.Today's hunt I loaned my Classic lll to my older brother Gene and we hit a school and a park. The school produced lots of deep clad and my brother with the Classic lll found a 1961 Canadian silver dime.My brother wanted to go to this old park and explained there was an old boy scout camp next to the park.Anyway the park has real possibilities I found a 1946 Roosevelt Silver dime and a 1930 wheat cent, but the Original was picking up a lot of hot rocks.Today I used the Coinsearch coil for my next hunt the T800 will be used. After this hunt the unit seems to have the tone pitch set too high so I lowered it down to a mosquito pitch.I found the tone pot right away but I noticed another pot and a check revealed it was set to the max.I backed off the pot about a quarter turn which would equal 3/4 to max I'm hoping this will help with the hot rock appetite.Maybe tomorrow back to the park.
