Got first ring yesterday...very small, got some marks inside band along with 14k..tarnished though...and today dug up 1917 for sure and 1919? Buffalo nickels and 1986 nickel....havent had much luck on finding nickels in past but 3 today gave me a lesson in what to look and listen for...Curt

Thanks Jeff,i feel very lucky to find 2 in one day..area might not have been checked out to much in vdi area of nickels as tabs and tinfoil are in that area..and did dig some today..Curt..but im going back for sure .

I forgot to mention that property manager said cabin we were hunting around was built in 1919-1920 so feel nickels justify that time period.

Nice finds Curt. Sounds promising for a return trip. Good luck.

Think im going to try to take video via digital camera ..if i get it figured out and will try to post area on here.

I've had Indian Heads read in the nickel range as well, the ground will play tricks with the VDIs one way or the other too,

Very nice finds I haven't been lucky enough to find any buffalo's this year yet but have found two mercury dimes so looks like this is my year for the silver dimes instead of the nickels . Your doing great those first finds are always exciting Congrats on a great hunt , job well done .
