Couple explorer questions

I spent about 4 hours this afternoon checking out some detectors in my test garden, and I noticed several things about my explorer that I have questions about.
1.When in I.M. (say about -12) I actually get better depth using the "fast" mode than I do "deep". Not much, but I had several buried coins that would tone only on "fast". When I am in smart mode with some areas blocked I do get a little better depth on "deep".
My garden is clean and uncluttered and I know it's not a sweep speed problem. The Ground is not too bad around here either.
2. When in I.M. sometimes my curser really lags behind the tones, like about 3 seconds. Is that normal?
Thanks

Rich, my cursor lags too, sometimes it seems to get stuck. Same thing when I'm running in digital. I have to sweep over the item several times before the readout will change. Rule of thumb is to trust the tones. Don't know if Fast is deeper, but for me it is better. I use it all the time and get some deep coins. Ed

The so-called "stuck" cursor is normal operation when hunting with discrimination. See page 44 of the manual where it says that "the target crosshair wil remain locked in the position of the last accepted target".
It is also normal to sweep until you get an audio response and then re-sweep to get the cursor to respond (and possible stabilize depending on what's under the coil).
Not sure I've noticed that "Fast" is deeper than "Deep" (????) as I usually use "Fast" to help me separate the good targets from the junk in areas I normally hunt.
HH ... Gord.

you can sweep over a target for an hour but it will not change unless you get the coil up or over where you can hear a threshold tone.

Fast is the preferred mode and is just as deep. You can try deep if you get an iffy target but most people use fast as there default.

looking for good relic program or any programs that are good. had explorer for short time. tring to get as many programs as possible. want to see what others are coming up with. anything will be helpful. thanks
