FPD's post inspired me to go out today so I went down the road to the Podunk town where the little 1 acre park has given me a couple keepers in the past. Got in 4 hrs today and scrounged up the ring and the rest. I do have to go into the Big City for (hopefully) my LAST (?) cancer checkup and as much as I hate hunting there I'll give it a shot as I usually stumble onto some older stuff when I go to the big city....we'll see? Outside of that...I've been sticking close to home and not hunting much...........

Those nickels don't even look like they was ever buried, were they a modern surface drops?

I clean all my older nickels..........5-6" range on these

Good job on nabbing the buffalo's ; they are still one of my favorite coins to find and my Dad's favorite coin.
He told me a story once about his 9th birthday in 1938 when when he got a jack knife and a buffalo nickel for his birthday and
he said he felt like a king that day.

Whatever your method is, it does a good job. I've used a scowering pad it shines them up but just doesn't look right.

Yes, you must share your cleaning method with us. All my Buff's look rusty!

Two buffs - nicely cleaned, a wheat and a ring out of a pounded small 1 acre park is pure determination and skill... nice job.

Kind of in the same boat as you. Been out only a few times so far this season with nothing to brag about.
All the public areas within an hour or so drive have been pounded to smitherines. Since I have no motivation nor the time to travel long distances for the sole purpose of metal detecting, guess the only thing left is door knocking which i hate doing with a passion.

Got this feeling my eTRAC is gonna collect some cobwebs this Summer.

Good job all around. Best wishes you get a clean bill of health.

Very nice! I alway like the buff's, they don't come up that often where I hunt. Very nice finds.
