Country Road

This is a picture looking up the road from the old Kentucky home I grew up in with my Grandparents, Uncles, Aunt, Cousins, and family. The road was just a dirt road back then and the old building is my Grandfather's blacksmith shop. My grandparents passed away several yrs. ago. The house is now occupied by my 78 yr. old Aunt. Wish I knew how to use Photo Shop better. I could get rid of the wires and telephone pole and add a little color to the sky.

I miss that part of the country. I don't miss the heat though! It's going to be a sweltering 70 degrees here today and that's fine because archery elk season starts in a few days. Hate packing them out in the heat. Have you got any shots of the homestead?

Thanks Mike...Hope you have a good elk hunt! Always wanted to hunt elk with a bow. Our bow season for white tail begins next month...I'm still using my old PSE "Laserflite" with round wheels...It is smooth as silk. I don't need a faster bow...A 30 yd. shot is a Loonng one from a treestand in the woods...I can't wait! I just want to get out and see the deer. I've become more patient over the yrs. and usually get 'em up close and personal 'cause I am not as passionate about killing as I used to be!...The "nature" part is more thrilling to me than it used to be!
I've got a few shots of the old homeplace and will post them...They aren't too good from my old Mavica..but should give you an idea. Seeya, Doug

I miss the whitetail hunting. Elk hunting with a bow is something I really love. I'm shooting a Bowtech Extreme at 72lbs. and I'll be using carbon arrows for the first time this year. You wouldn't believe the speed I'm getting. I don't shoot any further with the faster setup but I only need one pin now. I'm deadly out to 40 yards and I'll do 50yds. on a big bull if everything is just right. My brother and uncle send me shots every year of the big bucks thier getting in Ohio and Kentucky. Good luck this year.
