I'm in the dog house for sure now ! just picked up a Compadre that was only used a couple of times by it owner. My wife sees another detector and I'm as good as ......

Nah. Just let her use it once. She'll get hooked and then you'll have to buy another.

Well, me too in same risk, the problem is I haven't any dog and less a dog house, dont't know what penitence go apply to me, but the vice is too big. HH Jorge.

Just find your first nice ring or necklace with this jewelry magnet and you will come off as a genius. You are on pretty thin ice though. I have seen your past and present arsenal lists. I am putting the vaq or the cibola on my birthday or Christmas wish list this year and dropping some subtle or not so subtle hints about the perfect gift idea for me. A man can never have too many toys especially if they are detectors. After all most are cheaper than a new car.

A very handy detector to have on hand. It is the one I loan out the most often. In the past 2 months my Compadre has gone to help one coworker find his property markers and another to find the car keys he lost while putting down mulch in his flower beds. The one who found the property markers is looking at buying a Vaquero and getting into the hobby while the one who found his keys prefers video games but was on a mission to find the smart key that was quoted as $285 to replace. The key finder said it was a little frustrating to spend 4 hours looking for it but he was happy to find it! In finding the key he saved about $71 per hour that he spent looking for the key. Not a bad return for his time.

No one around my area detects but about everyone knows that I do & I have loaned out my detector to friends and neighbors that have lost everything from tools to log chains and everything in between. That is one expensive key tvr, must have a gold filled chip.

SkiWiz,
I miss living in farm country. Moved to suburbia about 19 years ago and really don't know the neighbors like I did in the country. Heck, when there were only about 20 houses within 2 miles of me I knew most of the people within 15 miles better than I know the people 200 yards from my house now. Most folks don't have a clue about what it takes to get food to the table. It isn't about buying a shrink wrapped package. I have a lot of respect for the work you are doing.

Key was for a 2010 Prius. One lady I work with was quoted a little over $400 for a 2008 Infinity key. The smart keys make it harder to steal the car, yet I question if they really cost that much to make a new one. I don't have a car that new yet and am not complaining. Gets harder to repair them without the more expensive diagnostic / computerized tools.

And keep loaning the detectors out! It's the neighborly thing to do!

from a locksmith stand point ( i am a automotive locksmith ) its true the keys from the dealer are expensive, then to program my one machine with all the updates cost me about $12 grand

I had a mazda to make a key my cost for the remote key was $210 and the dealer wanted $350, I found one on ebay for $95 and passed the savings to a happy customer.

I regret selling my compadre, when i sold it , i sold the ability to get close to metal poles and find things, close to fences, ect, when i think of all the detectors that cant get close to metal that leaves a lot of good targets for the compadre

Can't wait to hear what you find with your Compadre welcome to the Compadre family!
