Went to my usual mountainous place I find Barbers at. Always Indians, V's and Barbers, rarely Wheats, and Mercurys. It's hard walking in the snow, up and down hills (some trap rock). Have fallen a couple of times:ranting: Did 3.75 miles. This place is drying out and not much more was found except shotgun shells. Did find the 1909 Barber quarter in VF/XF, and a 1904 Indian. The other item is a hat pin my 4th or 5th up there. Glad I hit some silver:)

Nice find........

Very nice hunt indeed. Love those hat pins, they are very cool,
something you just dont see everyday. Congrats on finding the
silver too

Hey, It's because I never listened to that guy that would walk a mile for a camel, that I'm able to climb those hills!!!:detecting: I think I'm going out this Saturday if weather permits.

n/t

Those where some nice coins, better than me I only found a few Wheat cent the other Day-Hard to find Silver Coins in Charlotte,NC

Oh, man, you just knocked me flat with that one.

Not only a Barber quarter, but a NICE one at that. WTG!

It has been yearsandyearsandyearsandyears since I dug one.

Location, Location, Location. If they didn't eat, sit or party or play there, then there ain't any Barbers there. My best sites come from places that don't look that inviting. Finding those wooded areas that are unappealing these days may have been looked at differently in the old days of horse travel. A bit of library (old newspaper) hunting can lead you to a new site. Good luck and I hope you find 2 this year!!!

Excellent point, coinnut.
The trick is being able to separate yourself from our present day trials and tribulations to consider in detail how it WAS.
We think little of traveling 60 miles, at the drop of a hat. Or to an adjoining county...

I still know a few people who have NEVER left our county, and actually, more than a few who have never left the state.
Folks didn't travel much, or have much money.

If you can grasp the concepts of where they were, and how they might misplace it, chances of getting lucky increase!
